Proposing on Valentines Day, tacky or romantic?

An ex of mine told me if I ever did this, it would be a no, as would doing it as a suprise in front of other people, and a long list of other situations.......

Many people do pop the question on this day though, so, is it romantic?

Any experiences or stories to tell, with positive or negative endings.

I did and sang my now wife a song in the middle of a crouded resturant. I'm supprised she didd't have me section never mind marrying me!
